The Euromax Terminal Rotterdam is one of the most advanced and environment-friendly container terminals in the world. The automated terminal is located at the north-westerly corner of the Maasvlakte, almost directly on the North Sea. At the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam, the vessels of CKYH - the Green Alliance, the cooperation between shipping lines Cosco, "K" Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin, are handled. The Euromax Terminal Rotterdam has been especially designed for the fast, safe and efficient handling of the very largest container ships. The depth along the quay is 16.80 metres; as the size of container vessels increases, the port basin can easily be further deepened to 19.60 metres. The cranes at the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam have a reach of 23 containers wide. Similar to the ECT Delta Terminal, Ultra Large Container Carriers are not hindered by locks or tides; they are moored alongside the quay within an hour of entering the port.

The automated concept already familiar from the ECT Delta Terminal has been further refined and expanded at the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam. All quay cranes at the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam are semi-automatic and have been equipped with a second trolley for even higher productivity levels. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) transport the containers between the quay and stack. In each of the dozens of stacking lanes, the work is carried out by two so-called Automated Rail Mounted Gantry cranes or ARMGs, one on the sea side and one on the landside. This creates optimum efficiency. The stack has almost 2150 connections for reefer containers. The company Delta Reefer Care sees to it that all these reefers are optimally handled 24/7.
At the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam, feeders and barges are given all the space they need at the deep-sea quay which has separate barge/feeder cranes at either end. Trains are handled at the on-site rail terminal with two cranes and six tracks; like the rail terminals of the ECT Delta Terminal, this rail terminal is directly connected to the Port Railway Line and the Betuweroute. Truck drivers who have been pre-notified and can identify themselves with their Cargo Card only need to exit their cabins at the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam when containers are taken from or put onto the truck. All the formalities can be dealt with from the truck. The customers of the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam can of course also benefit from ECT's European Gateway Services.
