Winner of the Lean and Green Star

Sustainable entrepreneurship

ECT has received the Lean and Green Award in 2010 and the Lean and Green Star in 2013. Lean and Green is a Dutch initiative to stimulate sustainable entrepreneurship in the logistics sector. Award winners pledge to demonstrably reduce their CO2 emissions by at least 20 per cent over a five-year period. ECT has developed a master plan to this extent which covers all aspects of its operations from the handling of containers to hinterland transport, reducing its own carbon footprint and that of customers. ECT has received the Star for its realisation of the programme.

Structural policy

With its participation in Lean and Green programme, ECT is demonstrating the high value it places on environmental sustainability. The Euromax Terminal Rotterdam at the Maasvlakte, for example, is one of the most environmentally-sustainable container terminals in the world, employing the latest green methods and technologies.

Collective company transport

ECT is the second-largest provider of collective company transport in the Netherlands. More than 1000 employees and 200 external workers commute via the bus transport organised by ECT, which connects the entire region with the Maasvlakte around the clock, saving millions of car kilometres per year.
