Already 40 years ago ECT felt the importance to promote sustainable hinterland transport and saw the potential of this logistic hub. The terminal in Venlo is an extended gate for the port of Rotterdam and helps to maintain the competitive position of Rotterdam.
From the beginning the terminal proved to be successful. In 1992 the rail terminal at the Celsiusweg opened and we renamed ourselves "TCT Venlo". In 2010 we expanded our services with the opening of our barge terminal at the Ankerkade. Since a couple of years we operate under the name of Hutchison Ports Venlo.
Currently Hutchison Ports Venlo is offering 24 trains and 5 barges per week under the flag of European Gateway Services. These trains and barges provide connections to the deepsea terminals and (empty) depots in Rotterdam and Antwerp and to many inland destinations. In addition, Hutchison Ports Venlo receives several hundred trucks a day.
The services are expanded with last mile trucking, ventilation, container repair and fumigation. In the beginning of 2024 we will double our barge terminal capacity.
Thanks to all our clients, partners and suppliers who have contributed to this success!
