The consequences of the event in the Suez Canal will remain noticeable for a while. In the media, the focus is on the handling of vessels in European seaports. Rotterdam Corridor: Reliable and fast handling with Fixed Windows
For more than two years, Danser Group and European Gateway Services (EGS) have been connecting both the ECT Euromax and ECT Delta terminal of Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam on the Maasvlakte with terminals and empty depots in the Waalhaven and Botlek area, including those of the Waalhaven Group and the Kramer Group. The Rotterdam Corridor has a fixed and very reliable (99%) timetable based on fixed windows at the ECT terminals. The Rotterdam Corridor also has fixed connections to RWG and APMT on the Maasvlakte.
Along the quay of the Hutchison Ports ECT Delta terminal on the Maasvlakte, the Port of Rotterdam Authority has installed a smart bollard as part of a trial. By measuring the strain on the mooring lines in real time, the bollard not only allows the real-time monitoring of safety, but it also provides a clearer picture of which vessels can moor at which quays. The trial is in line with the Port of Rotterdam Authority’s policy of making the port more efficient through digitisation.
