Op 1 mei is naast de Hutchison Ports ECT Euromax terminal een nieuwe zogeheten ‘Pre Security In Truck Buffer’ in gebruik genomen.
Deze extra buffercapaciteit is gerealiseerd om beter te kunnen inspelen op piekdrukte en mogelijke calamiteiten, met als doel de veiligheid op de openbare weg te verhogen.
De Truck Buffer biedt plaats aan circa. 350 vrachtwagens en blijft onder normale omstandigheden gesloten. Wanneer de situatie daarom vraagt, wordt de buffer geactiveerd en opent een beveiligingsbeambte van de ECT Euromax terminal het hek. Medewerkers van
de terminal begeleiden vervolgens het in- en uitrijdende verkeer volgens het first-in-first-out principe. Chauffeurs dienden de instructies van deze medewerkers te allen tijde op te volgen.
De Truck Buffer wordt uitsluitend opengesteld voor vrachtverkeer. Binnen het terrein geldt een maximumsnelheid van 30km/u en op dit moment zijn containers met gevaarlijke stoffen (IMO) nog niet toegestaan. Deze containers mogen worden geparkeerd op de aangegeven
parkeerplaats voor de security loge.
Naast de nieuwe Truck Buffer blijft de D-route bestaan, maar het moment waarop de D-route wordt ingezet, zal vaker kunnen worden uitgesteld of voorkomen. In geval van calamiteiten kan het alsnog noodzakelijk zijn om aanvullend de D-route (en E-route) te
activeren.

On May 1st, a new so-called “Pre Security In-Truck Buffer” was opened next to the Hutchison Ports ECT Euromax terminal.
This additional buffer capacity has been created to better respond to peak congestion and potential emergencies, with the aim of increasing safety on public roads.
The Truck Buffer can accommodate approximately 350 trucks and remains closed under normal circumstances. When the situation requires it, the buffer is activated, and a security officer from the ECT Euromax terminal opens the gate. Terminal staff then guide
incoming and outgoing traffic according to a first-in, first-out principle. Drivers must follow the instructions of these staff members at all times.
The Truck Buffer is exclusively accessible to freight traffic. A maximum speed of 30 km/h applies within the area, and at this time containers with hazardous cargo (IMO) are not yet permitted. These containers must be parked in the designated parking area
in front of the security lodge.
In addition to the new Truck Buffer, the D-route will remain in place, but the moments when the D-route will be activated may be delayed or avoided more often. In the event of emergencies, it may still be necessary to additionally activate the D-route (and
E-route).
