On May 1st, a new so-called “Pre Security-inTruck Buffer” was opened next to the Hutchison Ports ECT Euromax terminal.

This additional buffer capacity has been created to better respond to peak congestion and potential emergencies, with the aim of increasing safety on public roads.

To further improve safety at our terminals, we informed you in January 2026 about a mandatory safety and access test for all drivers visiting the ECT Delta and ECT Euromax terminals. The test is conducted at Secure Logistics on Maasvlakte Plaza.

Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam is currently expanding the ECT Euromax Terminal. In the coming period, new equipment will be delivered via the waterside. On 10 April 2026, new quay- and ARMG cranes will be delivered. Temporary use of part of the quay will be required to unload this equipment.

ISPS signs have recently been installed on both sides of the DBF quay at the ECT Delta Terminal, in line with the applicable ISPS regulations.

We are now four weeks into the migration to the new Terminal Operating System (TOS) at the ECT Euromax terminal. We are steadily seeing progress in operations, but unfortunately, we are still dealing with several challenges.

Deepsea and Feeder

We announced earlier via our Weekly and the ECT website that, as of mid-January 2026, the migration from our current Terminal Operating System (TOS) at the ECT Euromax terminal to a new, up-to-date TOS will start.

As from 8 September, ECT will switch to facial recognition as the new biometric verification method for truck drivers. The current devices that utilize finger vein technology will be gradually replaced with modern devices based on Facial Recognition on Chip (FROC) technology.

To improve safety and traffic flows to the ECT Delta terminal, infrastructure changes are being made. These adjustments aim to separate container traffic from other traffic earlier, ensuring smoother traffic handling and reducing congestion.

The change involves 100% registration and verification of PortKey users—both drivers and passengers—and the introduction of facial recognition.

ECT intends to limit the period of validity of a pre-announced truck visit (Remote Check-In, also known as RCI). This change applies to both ECT Delta terminal and ECT Euromax terminal.
